The investment initiative undertaken for the development of the Muruntau deposit is integral to enhancing precious metals production at Navoi Mining & Metallurgical Company (NMMC). To optimise ore transportation to both permanent and temporary storage facilities, the implementation of cyclic-flow technology complexes has been expanded, particularly as the open pit deepens. This approach serves to minimise time expenditure and operational costs.
Under the auspices of the ‘Muruntau Open Pit Development – Phase V, Stage I’ investment project, construction and installation of a cyclic-flow technology complex on the southern flank of the pit have been finalised, and the facility is now operating at full capacity. Presently, two crushing-loading units, a 1,500-meter main conveyor, and a 900-meter overburden conveyor are collectively responsible for transporting 25,000 cubic meters of mined rock daily.
According to Khurshidbek Negov, Chief Mechanical Engineer of NMMC’s Central Administration Unit, “With the commissioning of this automated cyclic-flow complex at the Muruntau mine, the haulage distance for large-capacity dump trucks has been reduced by 1,550 meters. This has also led to a considerable decrease in diesel fuel consumption, as well as reductions in dust and gas emissions into the atmosphere.”
All equipment required for the complex was manufactured under the Localisation Program at the Navoi Machinery Plant and the Zarafshan Repair & Mechanical Plant. Construction and installation activities were executed by the Zarafshan Construction Department.
