John Thompson, a South African company, has returned to the Australian market by forming a new partnership.

John Thompson, a South African industrial services company within the ACTOM group, is re-entering the Australian market after two decades, partnering with EDMS to offer specialist boiler support, especially for the sugar industry, as well as opportunities in the industrial and energy sectors. Many of its previously installed boilers are still operating, but specialist support has diminished.

Business development manager Quintus Engelbrecht stated that the collaboration with EDMS restores access to necessary technical expertise and service. The partnership has already produced results in Queensland through replacement furnace panels manufactured by John Thompson and installed by EDMS.

Few boiler specialists remain in Australia, so this partnership leverages John Thompson’s engineering know-how and EDMS’s local presence to deliver scalable client support, including remote monitoring and virtual diagnostics for improved plant efficiency and reliability. While currently focusing on the sugar sector, there is potential to expand into other industries, including power generation. Michael Hagen, EDMS Australia MD, emphasized that combining John Thompson’s proven technology with EDMS’s delivery capabilities will provide smarter energy solutions and boost performance across multiple sectors.
